Legare Farms: Pumpkin Patch and Maze (Saturday)
Bring the children and grandchildren out this Friday for the Legare Farms annual pumpkin patch during the month of October. In addition to pumpkin picking, the festivities include a 10 acre Myrtle maze with three miles of paths and five bridges, hayrides to feed the cows, a Scarecrow Factory, a mini maze, a farm animal display, a balloon launch and concessions. Unique wines, craft beers, Lowcountry cuisine, and tempting desserts are showcased during this benefit for the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic. Kiawah Spirits & Wines will showcase favorite libations while Ann Caldwell brings her soulful voice to the event. The festival occurs October 12, between 3:00-6:00 pm and will feature a silent auction. Advance tickets may be purchased for $35 at Indigo Books in Freshfields Village or for $40 at the event.

Kiawah Island's annual pet fundraiser, Dogtoberfest, will be located on the green at Freshfields Village again this year! Join everyone for a pet costume contest at 2PM and different prizes and giveaways for you and your four legged friend! Ready for the Turkey Trot? Kiawah Island is hosting their annual fun run/walk on the beach on Thanksgiving morning! Get your workout before the turkey eating and football watching. The race offers a one-mile walk or a one to three mile run on the beach for families, beginners or competitive runners. Bring your sand tools and creativity out to the beach for the family sand sculpting competition! Categories will include best holiday theme and most creative. Entry is complimentary. The competition will take place just west of the Sanctuary Hotel Beach Access point. Judging begins promptly at 2:45pm. Limited toys will be available for rent. We'd love to see your sculptures! Join the Fall Festival with entertainment at Night Heron Park this Thanksgiving! A bluegrass band will be pick’n away so stomp your feet then head on out to the park for a kick’n good time! Be there as The Sanctuary is transformed into a magical, holiday mansion. Their holiday staff will be busy assembling the Grand Lobby Christmas tree, as well as decorating the mantels and grand staircases. The tree lighting festivities will begin at 5pm and come ready to sing some favorite Christmas carols! We had fun attending last year - along with all of the holiday cheer there were also a plethora of cookies and warm holiday drinks.

Join everyone the night before the marathon for a glow-in-the dark beach fun run! Registration starts at 5pm and the race will start at 5:30pm near the Sanctuary beach access.
